Swimming lessons

Isaac took his first swimming lessons a few weeks ago. It was a parent/child class at North Shore and Becky and Daxton took them with us. We had so much fun! Isaac still just loves to be in the water but was a little sad when he realized we weren't at the pool just to go down the frog slide. They did have a good time chasing the balls and ducks around the pool and splashing to the songs.

I usually took Isaac but this was Shawn's day off, so he got in with him so I could get pictures. I love this next picture, looks like Isaac doesn't quite trust Shawn to help him with the back float!

Healing Field

The pictures don't quite do it justice (and didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped thanks to a slow camera and a squirmy little baby) but this tribute at the fairgrounds is amazing. There are 5000 flags tied with yellow ribbons and names of soldiers who paid the ultimate price fighting for our freedom. Wow. Really makes you stop and think of the sacrifice of these soldiers and their families. It doesn't seem adequate, but I am so grateful for our freedom and the price they paid to defend it. If you haven't had a chance to go see this, GO! It will be up for a few more days at the Weber fairgrounds. Don't miss your chance to walk through these flags and pay your respects to these fallen heroes.

Our 4th of July celebrations

We spent the morning of the 4th at my cousins house. They had all sorts of fun activities and water games. We had a great time! Shawn actually started his day a little earlier putting out flags in the neighborhood then going to our ward breakfast, but Isaac slept in so I took advantage of that and slept in too.

After taking Isaac home for a nap we headed to our favorite tradition-the Bees game with our friends. It was Isaac's first baseball game and we were so excited to take him. He was just excited to be hanging out outside with so much going on around him. He was really good all night and had lots of fun.

Eating his first taste of cotton candy. He wasn't quite sure what to think of it.

Sweet baby Jane. She was such an angel the whole night. When she wasn't sleeping she was happy. She is such a good baby!

Our sweet little man. I just can't say it enough, we sure love this kid!!
Isaac had a hard time obeying the sign-all he wanted to do was climb on the fence. The big boys were good to help him stay down.

The game was SO long and it was really late when it ended, but Isaac was still going strong and he loved the fireworks. Now whenever he hears one going off he points to the sky and says "boom". So cute!

It was a long day but so much fun! I love the 4th of July! Hooray for living in America, we are so blessed!

Loving summer!

Isaac has been loving summer! He loves being outside and loves being in the water. We got a season pass to the North Ogden aquatic center and I've taken him a few times. He has no fear and loves the slides. He keeps me running! Grandma and Grandpa set up a waterslide and pool at playgroup last week and he had a great time. He ate his first ice cream cone and loved it! It was a good thing we were outside and could put him in the pool after because he made a huge sticky mess! Summer is the best and I have loved having fun in the sun with my sweet little boy!

My sad discovery

This is what I discovered today when I went to our freezer for a loaf of bread. The door had caught on something and didn't shut tight and everything was thawed and ruined. It was devastating! Not only did we have TONS of ruined meat (we had 200 pounds just in ground beef) but all of my milk I've been pumping and saving for Isaac for the last 6 months was thawed and ruined. That was what I was planning on feeding him for the next few months since he still doesn't do great on dairy. AAAAHHHH! What a day. Oh well, life goes on huh? Still lots to be thankful for-even with a freezer full of bad food and milk.

Memorial Day

We took Isaac to see some horses yesterday afternoon. He loves animals lately and gets so excited when he sees a dog or cat but this was his first experience with a big animal! He was pretty good about being gentle and neither him or the horse ended up too traumatized by the experience.

Right after this picture Isaac got mad and yelled at the horse for eating his grass. He didn't understand we were trying to feed them, he just thought the horse was eating his toy!

This little baby horse was only 3 days old! So cute! (I'm sure I should know what a baby horse is called...colt, foal, calf, puppy...something. Oh, well-baby horse works. Don't tell my farmer husband.)

Our cute little man!

The horses were great, but this was Isaac's favorite part of the day. He had been eyeing the tractors and making his little motor noise, so we let him sit and "drive" the tractor. He was in heaven!

My big 1 year old boy!

John took Isaac's 1 year pictures. He did such a great job, it's hard to pick our favorites-we love them all! How did our little baby already turn 1?? It's so crazy how quickly time flies. Isaac is a complete joy to us and he keeps us laughing every day! Shawn and I sure love this little boy!
